Cordless lights: the economical alternative
Cordless lights: the economical and energy-saving alternative of the future
Whether you want to brighten up a cosy corner in your living room, create a warm and inviting atmosphere on your patio or simply need reliable lighting for the late hours, cordless lights are the perfect solution. These lights are extremely practical, easy to transport and come in a variety of designs and sizes. This makes them a versatile companion for every occasion. In this article, we'll dive into the world of cordless lights and show you how they can easily enrich your home and outdoor space - and sparingly.
Why cordless lights are the next trend in indoor and outdoor lighting
Cordless lamps are revolutionising the way we illuminate our spaces by providing us with unprecedented flexibility and convenience. These innovative lights work thanks to rechargeable batteries that power the lamp, making it completely independent of power outlets. This allows you to take your cordless light with you wherever you go and place it without worrying about being close to power sources.
The most obvious difference between wired and wireless lights is the absence of non-existent power cables. While conventional lamps have to stay in a fixed place, close to a socket, cordless lamps offer unprecedented mobility. This freedom makes it possible to create lighting exactly where it is needed – whether on a bookshelf, in the middle of a festively decorated table or even outdoors where direct power access is not available. The advantages of cordless table lamps over traditional lamps are many.
In addition to the aforementioned mobility and flexibility, cordless lamps are equipped with state-of-the-art LED technologies that provide efficient and long-lasting lighting. Compared to traditional light bulbs, LEDs use less energy, making the cordless light a more environmentally friendly choice. In addition, many models offer the option of adjusting the light intensity, which both creates a pleasant atmosphere and further reduces energy consumption.
The light temperature, measured in Kelvin (K), influences the atmosphere of a room and should also be adapted to the needs of the application. This can be divided into the following three categories:
Warm white
(below 3,300 K): Creates a cosy atmosphere and is ideal for living rooms, bedrooms and children's rooms. LEDs with 2,700 K are similar to the light of classic light bulbs and are also a good choice for stairs.
Neutral white
(3,300-5,300 K): Has an activating effect and is well suited for the bathroom, kitchen and office in the home office. It helps to wake up in the morning and keep track of things. If you like it more comfortable, you can still use warm white light.
Cool white
(over 5,300 K): Also known as daylight white, it is ideal for basements, workshops and technical work rooms. It looks less cozy, which is desirable in these areas.
The right light temperature increases well-being and productivity depending on the chosen location.
Cordless lights are not only a practical, but also aesthetically pleasing solution for lighting any room or outdoor space. With their help, light can be used flexibly where it is needed most, without the limitations and inconveniences that come with wired luminaires.
Cordless lights: flexibility and style for your home
The flexible and cordless design of cordless lights significantly expands the range of applications. Whether in the garden, camping or on the balcony - cordless lamps are versatile companions for outdoor activities where the lamp is regularly transported. They are not only suitable as a reading lamp at home but can also be easily taken with you on a walk on the beach. A decisive criterion when buying a cordless light is the battery life. Therefore, pay attention to the information in the product description. The burn time depends on the light intensity and is at least 6-8 hours at full strength.
Mobile cordless lights often have a built-in dimmer to adjust the light intensity individually. With a touch dimmer, a simple touch is all it takes to control the light. The brightness can be adjusted by touching it for a long time. A push-button dimmer is operated via a paddle shifter: a short tap switches the light on or off, while a long press regulates the brightness. Most cordless lights can be easily charged via a charging cable via USB port.
Cordless lamps: a guide to care for long-lasting use
In general, the following handling recommendations apply to cordless lights:
Charge them in an environment between 0 and +40 °C that is protected from the weather (different instructions may apply to cordless outdoor lights, please refer to the instructions for use).
Clean the lights regularly.
Avoid completely discharging the battery and charge it briefly and frequently.
Regular maintenance and care of the cordless lights is crucial to ensure a long service life and efficient performance.
Follow these instructions and act accordingly to keep the lights in the best possible condition!
The right cleaning
Before starting cleaning, make sure the light is unplugged to avoid injury. Before cleaning, the lights must be switched off and cooled down.
When cleaning attached LED cordless lights, gentle cleaning agents should be used to avoid damage to the surface or electrical components. The reflectors must not come into contact with liquid and should only be cleaned with a dry cloth.
The LED array (the circuit board on which the LEDs are mounted) should not be touched or cleaned. A soft, slightly damp microfibre cloth or a sponge with a little water is usually sufficient for cleaning. Make sure that no water penetrates the electrical parts.
A mild soap solution can also be used, followed by plain water for wiping and drying. For lamp covers or glass surfaces, an alcohol-free glass cleaner is suitable for removing fingerprints and dirt.
Avoid abrasive detergents, scouring pads or abrasive materials, as well as harsh chemicals, solvents or acids, as they can damage the surface. A maintenance interval should be adhered to as needed.
Energy efficiency and environmental awareness: battery-powered luminaires compared to conventional lights
Despite the more complex manufacturing process, LED cordless lamps have less impact on the environment. The main reason for this is their lower power consumption during operation, which accounts for most of a lamp's environmental footprint. Electricity generation in power plants leads to large quantities of climate-damaging exhaust gases and toxic waste, while the extraction of fossil raw materials pollutes soils and waters. This has a far greater negative impact on the environment than the manufacturing processes, transport and disposal of lamps. Due to the lower power consumption during operation, energy-saving lamps have a significantly better environmental balance than halogen lamps.
A positive impact on the environment also means a positive impact on your wallet: after about a year, the higher price of an LED lamp is offset by the lower power consumption, and you start to save money.
