LIGHT SOURCES: LEDS AND LIGHT BULBS
Choosing the right lamp for your home also includes selecting the right light source. LED light sources have become established because they offer the optimal light for every room and every purpose, have an extremely long service life and save a lot of energy at the same time. LED lighting can be found in most households today.
LEDs are currently the most modern variant of light sources. The abbreviation stands for "Light Emitting Diode". This is an electronic element that is stimulated to glow by the flowing current.
SOCKETS AND THREADS FOR BULBS
When choosing the right light source, it is important to ensure that the base of the lamp and the thread of the bulb match. Screw threads such as E27 and E14 as well as 2-pin sockets such as GU10 are particularly common.
Lamps and lights that were originally powered by incandescent bulbs are also easy to use with LED bulbs.
LED BULBS
In recent years, LED light sources, also known colloquially as "LED light bulbs", have prevailed over other variants. In addition, there are other advantages that LED bulbs offer:
Long lifespan: the average rated lifespan of LEDs is about 25,000 hours. When we talk about the average rated lifespan, we are talking about the average lifespan of an LED in conventional use. For example, an LED with a daily usage time of three hours and an average rated life of 15,000 hours can be used for more than 14 years.
Energy efficiency: LEDs require about 90 percent less electricity than conventional incandescent bulbs for the same light intensity. Compared to halogen lamps, the savings are still 60 percent. Even compared to classic energy-saving lamps, LEDs perform better: the savings here are around ten percent. Classic light bulbs and halogen lamps are now a thing of the past. Important information: although LED lamps often have an energy efficiency class in the lower range, they are still very energy-efficient.
Sustainability: LEDs rarely need to be replaced due to their long service life. This saves resources and reduces waste.
Different colour temperatures: LED light comes in different colour temperatures for every room and every area of use
BRIGHTNESS AND LIGHT COLOURS OF LEDS
LEDs are available with different light output (measured in lumens) as well as different colour temperatures (measured in Kelvin). When it comes to colour temperatures, a distinction is made between the following categories:
Extra warm white (less than 2,700 Kelvin): such a light is particularly atmospheric and reminiscent of the light of a candle. It is well suited for rooms where you want to be cosy, such as bedrooms or even a cosy corner of the living room.
Warm white (3,000 to 3,500 Kelvin): this light colour provides cosiness and is therefore suitable for lighting in the evening in the living room as well as in the bedroom.
Neutral to cool white, also known as universal white (3,600 to 5,500 Kelvin): this colour temperature is ideal for rooms where concentration and the good perceptibility of details are important.
Daylight white (more than 5,500 Kelvin): this light ensures maximum perceptibility of details and is suitable for applications where maximum concentration is required, such as hospitals, workshops, offices, sales rooms, or medical practices.
In our assortment you will find various lights that have a colour change function, where you can switch between warm white, neutral, and cool white. To display lights with a colour change function, simply use the corresponding filter in our shop.
REPLACEABLE AND/OR PERMANENTLY INSTALLED LEDS
In the case of lamps and lights with LEDs, there are variants with permanently installed LEDs as well as those in which the LEDs can be replaced. Replacing the bulb is usually just as easy as with classic light bulbs. Depending on the socket, an old incandescent bulb can also be replaced by a new LED bulb.
However, there are also LED lamps with permanently installed LEDs that are not replaceable. Although the complete LED lights must be disposed of at the end of the LED service life, this will only be necessary after many years due to the long service life of the LEDs.
Depending on your wishes, you will find lamps with replaceable as well as with permanently installed LEDs in our shop.
ARE LEDS DIMMABLE?
There are LEDs that can be dimmed and those that cannot. Please pay attention to the description on the respective product page. You can also use the filter function in our shop.
