At what height should a bedside lamp stand?

The bedside lamp should be placed in such a way that it does not dazzle when lying down. Here it depends on the height of the bed and the placement of the lamp. Box spring beds, for example, are higher than futon beds. Also to note: Is the bedside lamp placed on the floor, or does it fit on the bedside table? Our tip: Measure the lying height of your headboard in bed and subtract the height of the bedside table. The resulting height can be used as a guide when choosing the bedside lamp. For example, if you choose a model with a lampshade, it should be at about head height because it prevents dazzling.

How bright should a bedside lamp be?

The wattage of lamps no longer plays a role today due to our powerful LED technology. More important is the luminous flux, which is given in lumens. For atmospheric lighting, it may be a little less bright. If the bedside lamp is also to be used as a reading lamp, we recommend a brighter version. However, the light should not be particularly bright so as not to disturb the transition to sleep.
